Profile

The Department of Economics was established in 1984 with the unification of the institutes for Political Economics, Economic Geography and the Politics of Economy and Finance which were joined by the institutes for Finance in 1986. There are currently more than forty professors working in the department who teach degree courses, specialised degrees, masters and Ph.D. programmes which are run by the Economics Faculty.
The department is structured in several Research Centres which are involved in a large number of research projects financed by the European Commission, the Ministry of Education, University and Research, the Veneto Region, the Consortium for Lagoon Studies, the Cassamarca Foundation and other national and international institutions.

The department is directed by Prof. Guido Cazzavillan,

in collaboration with the Department Board, which is made up of the Director himself and three full professors, three associate professors, two assistant professors and the administrative secretary. The Board cooperates with the Director in the annual preparation of applications for financing and in the assignment of non teaching staff; in the formulation of the annual research plan; and in drawing up the annual report about the results of experimentation, research and teaching that are carried out in the Department.

The Board is composed of the Director along with Prof.ssa Monica Billio (Vice Director),Prof. Ignazio Musu,Prof.ssa Maria Bruna Zolin, Dott.ssa Maria Cristina Molinari and Sig.ra Roberta Vianello.

The Department publishes four series of Working Papers, aimed both at the academic world, and at regional and national policymakers. The Department organises numerous and runs a series of seminars which take place each Monday afternoon.

 

The Department is located at the entrance of the San Giobbe Campus and is easy to reach from either the train station or the bus terminal.
