Four universities :
are offering an Erasmus Mundus Master entitled Models and Methods of Quantitative Economics (QEM).
The objective is to educate students in advanced methodologies and models in economics, with the goals of both research orientation for further studies and practical applications.
Four areas of specialization :
may be taken in the QEM Erasmus Mundus Master.
For each area of specialization, a Joint Curriculum is defined which involves two Universities. The student will visit both Universities to take advanced topic courses. The first year of the QEM Erasmus Mundus Masters, which focuses on the foundation courses, is identically organized in two universities of the consortium (Bielefeld and Paris) where all students will spend a semester. Courses are taught in English and are structured according to the ECTS (European Credit Transfer System) with 120 credits for the two years. Students will also undertake courses on the culture and language of the visited European countries. At the end of the QEM Erasmus Mundus Masters, a Masters Dissertation will be prepared on a research topic, under the joint supervision of the two Universities where the specialization is made. At the successful completion of the QEM Erasmus Mundus Masters, students will be awarded a double degree from the two degree-granting Universities : Màster en Economia Quantitativa (Barcelona), Master of Science Wirtschaftsmathematik (Bielefeld), Diplôme d’Etudes Approfondies (Paris), Laurea Specialistica in Economia (Venice).
The QEM Erasmus Mundus Masters is intended for top level international students. In order to guarantee a good ratio between the teachers involved in the Joint Master and the QEM students, about 40 students per year will be selected. Admission in the QEM Erasmus Mundus Masters is based on academic excellence. Applicants should have a Bachelor Degree or equivalent, strong interest and/or previous studies in Economics, undergraduate training in mathematics (or related backgrounds such as engineering), and a fluent knowledge in spoken and written English.
